Monsanto Whistleblower Awarded $22 Million in Historic Securities Fraud Case

According to reports from Reuters and several other news agencies, an award of over $22,000,000 will be given to a “Monsanto whistleblower” who has yet to be named. The award comes as part of an $80 million settlement between the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that took place back in February, according to lawyer Stuart Meissner of New York in a statement. The Reuters article said that the settlement was the SEC’s second largest under the program, all stemming from allegations that Monsanto engaged in some potentially serious financial misdeeds. Monsanto Forced to Pay Up Activists and concerned citizens have been watching Monsanto’s bottom line for years now, as the controversial company [...]

Report: Monsanto, Bayer Could Be Nearing Deal Very Soon

In the world of genetically engineered seeds and agrochemicals, there are few bigger players than Bayer, based in Germany, and Monsanto, based in the United States. Now, the two could be joining forces in what would be one of the most monumental deals in recent history — if government regulators allow them to, that is. While a potential merger between the two highly controversial companies (both of which have been the target of relentless protests in America and Europe, respectively) looked off for a while, they have reportedly “found common ground on a number of points” according to a Bloomberg report, and a merger deal could happen sometime in the next two weeks. The purchase price had been a sticking [...]

Victory! Determined Argentina Protesters Force Monsanto to Tear Down Unwanted GMO Seed Plant

The struggle against Monsanto and for organic and healthy non-genetically engineered food has been raging for several years now, with some areas (like most of Europe) succeeding and others having a much more difficult time evicting or the company or containing its influence. Monsanto’s genetically engineered crops are now banned in 38 countries, but Argentina, much like Brazil on the South American continent, has been one of the unfortunate ones where Monsanto has set up shop (some believe for the long term). If recent events are any indication, however, Monsanto has a fight on its hands in order to stay relevant in the country. After several months of protests, their plans for a controversial new GMO seed [...]

Medical Tyranny and the Explosion of Chronically Ill Children, Seizures, Autism

Medical tyranny is all the rage these days. In July, California joined Mississippi and West Virginia to become the third state in our “free” union to mandate that all children must be vaccinated according to the CDC’s Nazi-esque immunization program or they will be prohibited from attending schools and daycares. Personal and religious exemptions are no longer allowed. (Senator Richard Pan is responsible for California’s mandated vaccine bill, SB277. You can read about his extensive financial ties to the pharmaceutical industry by clicking here. A must-see video of the corrupt senator literally running away from the Vaxxed film crew and his own constituents can be viewed here.) Despite the [...]

Major University Hit with Lawsuit Over Failure to Release Public Documents on Ties to GMO and Pesticides Industries

The academic landscape in America has shifted a tremendous amount in the past few decades as more and more corporations seek to gain influence through the use of donations and other means designed to “level the playing field.” While the spotlight has been white hot on the problem of money in politics, the problem of money influencing academia to produce studies and research congruent with corporate ambitions has become a massive problem in its own right. One area where corporate influence is clearly dominating policy at the university level is in agriculture, where Monsanto has been caught funding and enlisting prominent academics to act as “independent” voices in the media on their behalf, and universities [...]

A Forgotten Warning: United States On the Verge of Being Hit With an “Autism Tsunami”

The United States spends more on healthcare than any other nation in the industrialized world, and yet despite that the country lags behind in many crucial health categories. Aside from an epidemic of potentially deadly diseases such as cancer and heart disease as well as a confounding rise in nagging chronic diseases like fibromyalgia, the U.S. is also facing a serious challenge in the form of autism, a complex condition that mainstream medical science still can’t quite get a handle on. Because of the mystery (and borderline taboo) surrounding both the causes and possible treatments of autism, many have hypothesized that our changing diet (i.e. what’s being done to our food) is just one potential factor [...]

“Fundamentally Anti-Consumer:” Senator Slams DARK Act, Announces New Plans to Repeal It

On July 1, 2016 a historic new law went into effect that echoed the demands of consumers across the country — Vermont’s first-of-its-kind mandatory GMO labeling bill. But roughly a month later on July 31, President Barack Obama signed a new bill into law, a bill crafted behind closed doors with the support of pro-GMO lobbyists and organic traitors that effectively destroyed the Green Mountain State’s democratically passed labeling bill. In its place: a toothless, woefully ineffective and discriminatory piece of legislation dubbed the DARK Act (aka “Deny Americans the Right to Know”), HR 764. Despite the clear influence of pro-GMO and agribusiness corporations in torpedoing state labeling laws (spending [...]

More Than 6 Million Americans in 33 States Exposed to Unsafe Levels of Teflon Chemicals In Drinking Water

As it turns out Flint, Michigan isn’t the only place suffering from the problem of contaminated water — the problem may be even more widespread than previously thought, according to a new study published on Tuesday in the journal Environmental Science and Technology Letters. While the problem may not be quite as drastic and immediate as the horror story that unfolded in the Great Lakes State, this particular study’s major finding —that over 6 million people in 33 states are being exposed to dangerously high levels of Teflon chemicals in their water supply, is pretty serious in its own right. The chemicals, also known as perfluorooctanoic acid (or PFOA), are viewed as “extremely dangerous to human health” [...]

‘A Love Story:’ Chipotle’s Latest Movie-Style Ad Spot is Going Viral (And Sharing an Important Message)

The world of fast food has been turned upside down thanks in large part to the clean food movement, and now many of the top fast food chains are caught in a position of playing catch-up. That’s because so-called “fast casual” chains like Chipotle Mexican Grill, Panera and others are gobbling up consumer support due to their commitment to using better quality ingredients. Chipotle’s claim to fame is its position on genetically modified organisms (GMOs, or genetically engineered ingredients) and food, namely its decision to cut them out of (virtually) all menu items in early 2015. The company faced a backlash from media giants, however — simply for catering to the demands of consumers who [...]
