US Government Can Legally Access Your Facebook Data

ANTIMEDIA The end of the year is approaching, and data concerning government abuses of power has begun pouring in. According to Facebook’s Global Government Requests Report, government’s requests for Facebook account data rose 27 percent in the first half of 2016. Facebook’s official announcement explained that requests for user data went from 46,710 in the last half of 2015 to 59,229 in the first half of 2016. At least 56 percent of these requests, Facebook added, “contained a non-disclosure order that prohibited us from notifying the user.” Law enforcement agencies from across the globe, Facebook continued, often send restriction requests demanding Facebook remove content from its forums. Fortunately, [...]

Bombshell Federal Report Links Monsanto Chemicals to Massive Liver Disease

Now, more than 13 years since the Monsanto settlement, Anniston residents are discovering that Monsanto’s toxic PCB chemicals may still be wreaking havoc on their health, specifically massive liver disease. While Monsanto does everything in its power to gloss over its dark history which includes the poisoning of numerous towns and ecosystems, as well as supplying the materials for deadly chemical weapons including white phosphorus and Agent Orange, those who are educated know the company is about far more than just agriculture. One of Monsanto’s worst crime scenes is in the small town of Anniston, Alabama (population 22,666), one of the worst examples of PCB contamination the world has ever seen. It was here [...]

But now Monsanto is forced to face the music after a landmark lawsuit from Missouri’s largest peach farmer, who says that Monsanto’s GMOs led to the use of illegal pesticides that caused hundreds of thousands worth of damage. Scientists Develop New Pesticide-Producing GMO Tomato Designed to Kill Caterpillars in One Day

One of the most difficult challenges the non-GMO and organic movement faces is dispelling myths about the current nature of Monsanto and other companies’ technologies. While it is well known that crops like corn and soy are among the most prevalent genetically engineered crops (90% or more of these and other crops such as cotton are GMO in the United States despite the fact that these crops are banned in more than 30 countries worldwide), few know the current situation with GMO tomatoes. The so-called “FlavrSavr” GMO tomato was the first such crop ever to be introduced, but it was scrapped due to consumer rejection and health concerns. Despite that, several Internet memes circulated on social media as [...]

New Trump Appointment Could Be HUGE Win for Monsanto and Bayer: Here’s Why

One of the biggest reasons Donald Trump was able to win the presidential election was because of his status as the “anti-establishment” candidate among the two biggest political parties — a clear alternative to Hillary Clinton. Clinton was well known for accepting serious campaign cash from the big banks and the pharmaceutical industry, and also for her clear public support of Monsanto. Meanwhile, Trump has remained mostly an unknown in this department — until recent weeks, that is. Now, a recent Trump appointment could be good news for one of the biggest and most controversial mergers in the history of agriculture. Trump Approval Good News for Monsanto, Bayer? Jeff Sessions, an Alabama senator recently [...]

Analysis: Monsanto Has Been Lying for TWO DECADES On Genetically Engineered Foods

Now that the dust has settled after the The New York Times’ bombshell analysis and report on the failed promises of genetically engineered crops, the debate between the media and Biotech interests has continued — as have further analyses of the Times’ assertions. Much to the chagrin of Monsanto, the Times published in-depth statistics showing that GMOs (the common term for genetically engineered, lab-spliced crops) don’t increase yields or reduce pesticide use after all, punching holes in the company’s biggest arguments for the crops’ very existence on a national stage. Monsanto, as you may have imagined, was upset by the report and offered up a response. But do the company’s [...]

“I Know the Difference Between Compromise and Extortion:” Elizabeth Warren Rails Against New Big Pharma “Giveaway” Bill

The pharmaceutical industry enjoys a charmed existence in Capitol Hill, in large part because of its penchant for big money lobbying. Last year, the pharmaceutical/health products category was #1 in terms of lobbying expenditures according to the website OpenSecrets.org; over $240 million was spent in 2015 alone (consequently the Biotechnology Industry Organization was also included in this total with over $8.3 million spent). Exactly how much of an effect it has on our Congresspeople and laws passed isn’t categorically known, but it goes without saying that industries wouldn’t be throwing around that kind of money if it didn’t make a huge difference. When it comes to new laws being passed, are [...]
